Helsinki is a modern & cultural European city whose urban cosmopolitan lifestyle exists in perfect harmony with nature. Surrounded by the sea and its own exotic archipelago, Helsinki offers visitors an endless number of possibilities. Just as Helsinki cannot be described in one word, neither can it be experienced in just one way. Helsinki really does have something for everyone.

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Helsinki. Take the airport bus to downtown. Check into your hotel which is located next to the University’s main campus, with plenty of cool hang out places in the neighborhood. Overnight at Hotel SOKOS Helsinki or similar.

Day 2
It’s common knowledge that when you know a local, you get to see the place in a different way. Let our friendly local guide show you the cool places where “normal” young adults hang out at Helsinki. You avoid at all cost churches, museums and other traditional sights. After the tour continue exploring the city on your own. There is literally more to Helsinki’s city centre than meets the eye. Below the city there is a maze of tunnels designed for cars and pedestrians. These tunnels make it possible to walk under the centre from one shopping centre to another without getting wet or cold in bad weather. This subterranean world is all the more exciting, as keeping one’s bearings without a compass or very developed sense of direction can be tricky. When you finally pop your head out above ground, you could find yourself in parts of the centre you never knew existed! Overnight at Hotel SOKOS Helsinki or similar.

Day 3
Now when you know the city and its many faces you can explore it on your own. We recommend you to get familiar with a “must do” Finnish tradition: Sauna. Sauna plays such a central role in the lives of Finns that just about every house and apartment block has at least one sauna. These days, many individual apartments also have their own small electric saunas. Saturday evening sauna is almost an institution in Finland, the time when nearly all Finnish families enjoy this weekly ritual. Most hotels in Helsinki have saunas for use by guests and parties. Helsinki also has public saunas that are open to everyone. There are separate sauna times for men and women. If you are really out for an experience check out The Sauna Bar. It is a unique 120-seat restaurant. In addition to drinks and snacks, the bar also has a sauna that can be reserved. On Sundays and Mondays from 3pm-12midnight the saunas are on non-stop, so you don’t need to make a reservation. There are separate saunas for men and women.
Or if you want more style try the Yrjönkatu Swimming Hall Built in 1928. It is the oldest public swimming hall in Finland. The architecture of the building is historically and artistically noteworthy, representing a fine example of Classicism. You swim in Roman-style baths and can even do so naked! There are separate times for men and women. Overnight at SOKOS Helsinki hotel or similar.

Day 4
After the cleansing experience from the Finnish Sauna you are ready to return refreshed back to the airport and home, or maybe you want to experience ….
Itinerary ends after breakfast.

Rovaniemi

4 days/3 nights

From $798 per person, double
From $980 single

Day 1
Upon arrival in Rovaniemi you will be transferred to your hotel. After check-in, enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. At 6:00p, you will start your Taste of summer night tour. Take a wooden riverboat along the Ounasjoki River to the beautiful countryside. A campfire will be made, and you will have a real outdoor barbecue and enjoy the warmth of the fire. Raise a toast to the Midnight Sun in a luminous Lappish summer night! Return to the hotel around 10:00p. Overnight at Santa Claus Hotel or similar.

Arrive and overnight in Helsinki.

Day 2
After breakfast at 10:30a you will enjoy the most important elements of the magical felling of Lapland, a Santa Claus Safari. Your trip will start with a refreshing cruise on a traditional riverboat, following along the River Kemijoki and Ounasjoki. You have a chance to visit a local Raindeer cottage, where you will learn about Lappish culture and reindeer rearing. You will also participate in the ceremony of crossing the Arctic Circle. Lappish style lunch will be served at the Reindeer cottage. You are also welcome to visit the home of a Lappish family and their workshop. In the afternoon awaites a visit by car to the Santa Claus Village. You meet Mr. Santa Claus himself, and you will also have a chance to do some shopping. On your way to the Santa Clause Village, your guide takes you to see the specialty of the day, (e.g. a local event or museum). The trip ends around 4:30p with a return to the city and your hotel.
After dinner, at 8:00p, you will start your Woodcrafts under the Midnight Sun tour. Sunshine 24 hours a day. Just a dream? Not in Lapland in summer! On this tour you will shake off "the dust of the town" and, after a short drive, plunge straight into the heart of the country. Here you will learn a few skills needed to survive in the arctic wilderness; how to set a compass from the sun's position and other signs of nature. We all know that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, but what about Lapland in summer? Besides this, you will learn other ways of taking advantage of nature's gifts: mushrooms, berries and plants. During the expedition you will stop for a cup of Finnish-style coffee and biscuts. Around 11:00p you will return to town to digest your experiences and be given a small pack of herbs as a souvenir. Overnight at Santa Claus Hotel or similar.

Day 3
After breakfast, at 10:00a, you will start your Make friends with Husky Dogs tour. You have been invited to a local husky owner's home! After a short drive by car you arrive at a local homestead where you can first greet the beautiful and friendly animals called huskies. When everything is ready, you start hiking to the woods while the dogs are walking freely around you, and your guide introduces you to the wonders of nature. After about an 1 hour light hike you will return to the homestead for a snack and coffee. At the homestead your guide introduces you further to the local life and huskies. Return to the city by car around 1:30p. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight at Santa Claus Hotel or similar.
