Pick up your rental car in the morning. Spend the day enjoying Reykjavik. Stroll through the city center, visit the Family Park and Farm Animal Zoo and go to the outdoor swimming pool in Laugardalur with big waterslides and hot pots for relaxation. Don't miss the view flatform at "Perlan" where you also can get good ice cream. Smaller children might like to feed the ducks and swans at the city pond. And on a warm summer day you might want to relax in Nauthólsvik, a small beach with a hot tub not far from the center of Reykjavik. Overnight in a family room at one of the Fosshotels in Reykjavik or similar.

Day 3:
Visit þingvellir National Park where the first Viking parliament was held. From there it is not far to Gullfoss waterfall and the gushing hot spring Geysir. There is an informative "Geo-center" you might want to vist. Overnight in a familiroom at Fosshotel Mosfell in Hella.

Day 4:
You could spend the day in þjórsárdalur visiting the ruins of the Viking farm Stöng, the nearby waterfalls and canyon of Gjáin or the remarkable waterfalls Hjálparfoss or Háifoss; all dominated by the volcano Mount Helkla. Perhaps you want to go for a horseback ride at the farm Leirubakki? And of course there is an outdoor swimming pool with hot tubs in Hella near the hotel. Depending on your children's ages, we recommend kayaking in Stokkseyri, river rafting on the Hvitá river, horseback riding in the mountains, jet skiing on the small lake of Svínavatn, visiting the hot spring park and green houses in Hveragerði and enjoying the family friendly swimming facilities in Selfoss. For a more leisurely program you might prefer a walk through the village of Eyrabakki with old wooden houses and the Folk and Maritime museum.
