Day 1:
Arrival in Iceland. Pick up your car at Keflavik airport. If time allows, visit the Blue Lagoon and explore the Reykjanes Peninsula. Overnight at one of the Fosshotels in Reykjavik or similar.
Day 2:
Drive north to Skagafjörður, the Valley of the Horses, try to count the innumerable hills at Vatnsdalshólar and see the turf farm at Glaumbær. Overnight at Fosshotel Áning or similar.
Day 3:
Visit Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland. Make a stop on your way at Goðafoss, the Waterfall of the Gods. Overnight at Fosshotel Laugar or Húsavik or similar.
Day 4:
Expore the natural wonders of Lake Mývatn, the hot springs at Námaskarð, and the lava fields at Krafla before driving on to East Iceland. Overnight at Fosshotel Hallormsstaður or Reyðarfjörður or similar.
Day 5:
Enjoy the dramatic fjord lanscape and fishing villages of the East Fjords before reaching Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier. Overnight near Höfn at Fosshotel Vatnajökull or similar.
Day 6:
A long drive with many natural wonders awaits you today as you pass a glacial lagoon, Skaftafell National Park, many waterfalls, black lava beaches and rugged lava fields. Overnight at Fosshotel Mosfell in Hella or similar.
Day 7:
Visit Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir Hot Springs, Þingvellir National Park, drive to Reykjavik and enjoy a walk through downtown. Overnight at one of the Fosshotels in Reykjavik or similar.
Day 8:
Drop off your car at the airport in time for your return flight home.
